Elfic visited Sarba


Ambassador to Lebanon, Emir Elfic visited Sarba South of Lebanon near Maghdouche, invited by Journalist Rita Hage in coordination with the municipality of Sarba, to inspect the effects of the presence of the Serbian army in Lebanon during the Crusades period

He was received with the accompanying delegation by the Mayor Lawyer Elias El Helou, members of the municipal council, and the family of lawyer Youssef Bou Saleh.

The ambassador toured parts of the castle built in the 11th century AD on an area of ten thousand square meters and contemporary wars waged by Saladin against the Crusaders

It is said that the citadel of Sarba (or the Serbian fortress as the inhabitants call it) was a fortress for Serbian soldiers or the remains of its wall and parts that have been burned three times throughout history and its three floors are still buried under the first remaining floor until today and have been rebuilt in the days of Emir Fakhruddin the first .

In our meeting with the mayor, Elias Helou, who welcomed the visit of the Ambassador of Serbia and on the inspection tour and he provided us with preliminary information about the relationship of this historic fort and its association with the presence of the Serbian army on its territory, in addition to the fact that the name of the town is probably related to this subject, although it does not unify concrete documents So far about these historical monuments, which symbolize an important era in the history of Lebanon

For his part, Ambassador of Serbia Emir Elfic expressed his interest in this historical cultural heritage , the passage of the Serbian Soldiers in Lebanon and promised to continue the research to ensure the authenticity of this information through the Serbian Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture in Lebanon, thus placing this town of 2,500 people on the touristic map
